Welcome to The Rame Group Practice

The Rame Group Practice team pride themselves on providing a high standard of healthcare that always puts patients at the centre of what we do. The practice operates from its main site at Penntorr Health and has a branch surgery at Millbrook, providing a wide variety of medical services to the Rame Peninsular.

We are proud to be an innovative and sustainable practice that constantly seeks opportunities to expand and develop the range of care services offered to patients. This means we can offer additional services such as minor surgery, young people’s service and a specialist dermatology service.

  • Extended opening hours from 8.30am to 8.30pm on alternate Tuesday's and Wednesday's.
  • Provision of a daily duty doctor, emergency practitioner and telephone triaging system, therefore we are able to offer same day appointments for urgent care.
  • Most common services we offer are: disease management clinics, cervical smears, immunisations and vaccinations, child health surveillance, minor surgery, minor injuries, dermatology and family planning.

EXCITING NEWS!

We’re excited to reveal that we will be changing to a brand new website in the next few weeks. This is an update that reflects our values and the way we need to evolve to meet the changing needs of our patients, as well as those who are yet to discover us. It’s been years since we last changed our website so a refresh was long overdue.

The redesign will not only be much more user friendly, modern and dynamic but will introduce more service options for our patients without having to telephone or visit the surgery.

Previous options will continue on our new website, such as book and cancel an appointment online, request medication as well as register as a new patient. But you will also be able to do so much more. This will include the ability to request sick notes, request a referral and track your referral, receive your test result, ask a doctor a question and ask a receptionist a question.

We hope you like our new website.

INFORMATION REGARDING MILLBROOK SURGERY

Millbrook Surgery Opening Hours

As of the 1st September Millbrook surgery will be temporarily closed on a Wednesday PM.  Services will continue to be provided from Penntorr.  We welcome contact from you either in person at Penntorr or by telephone or GP appointment and repeat medication requests may also be completed online via Patient Access. The phone lines will remain open and patients will be dealt with as deemed clinically necessary by the on-call doctor.

Background

The situation has arisen on the background of the widely publicised recruitment challenges to General Practice which are occurring throughout most of the country and we are fortunate to have been reasonably unaffected by this until now.

We currently have a doctor vacancy together with another colleague commencing maternity leave in September and despite being advertised for the last 3 months have received no applications and have been unable to secure any regular locum cover, which results in a deficit of 2 doctors (12 clinics per week) across our patch.

Unfortunately, there is a shortage of locums and permanent doctors wishing to work in the South West. We have reviewed clinical resources available to the practice and have had to make this short term change to enable us to best meet the needs of the whole practice population. Until we manage to secure additional help we are left with no choice but to close Millbrook on a Wednesday afternoon.

We understand that this will be disappointing, but we hope you will understand that having lost 12 clinics a week of doctor time we need to work out how best to provide a safe service across our whole patch.

Looking Forward

As soon as we are able to recruit to either the permanent vacancy or the locum position we will look to re-open Millbrook on a Wednesday afternoon.  Until such time we are looking to boost appointment availability by recruiting additional Emergency Practitioners to deal with acute illness, Clinical Pharmacists who can conduct medicines reviews and treat minor illness and Physiotherapists capable of initial assessment of muscle and joint problems.

We appreciate that this may be of concern to many of you and hope that you will appreciate that we are doing all in our power to try and deal with the situation.  Please be assured that we are committed to maintaining and reinstating the Wednesday afternoon service from Millbrook as soon as we can. We will publish updates on the situation on posters at the practice and on the practice website.

We ask you to help us by bearing with us during this temporary situation and where appropriate help us to help you by making use of services such as NHS 111, your local pharmacy and the NHS website.

We thank you for your help and understanding.

INFORMATION REGARDING ONLINE SERVICE

NOTICE TO PATIENTS -

In order to improve the experience and level of care that we offer our patients, The Rame Group Practice changed its clinical computer system and online services provider on the 24th April 2019.

We have written to all patients who are currently registered for online services to explain what this will mean for them and what will happen next.  If you have not received a letter please call the surgery after 11am and let the receptionist know so we can register you for online services onto the new system.

Those patients who are already registered with the practice for online services will not need to provide their identification documents again.

What will this mean for you?

As an existing patient who is registered for GP online services, this means that access to The Waiting Room is no longer available.  This change will bring a new version of GP online services called Patient Access.

What happens next?

You will be emailed a new PIN document and will need to re-register on the Patient Access website. You can do this by going to the following website address: https://www.patientaccess.com and enter the PIN number and account details included in the email in the registration section to set up your new patient access account.

There will also be an option in the email to choose from a few different providers that facilitate online services such as Patient Access, Evergreen, Dimec etc. This is to give patients a choice, but all providers work in the same way. The provider links with EMIS, which is our clinical system, is called Patient Access and you will see this as an option in the list.

Once you have selected your provider and registered with your login details, all existing online service capabilities (booking appointments, ordering repeat medication, viewing of medical records) will continue to be available in this new version, with changes focused on making use of these capabilities more intuitive and user friendly.

Patient Access also has a support website. This website is designed specifically to support patients in the use of the online services and will provide help and guidance on all aspects surrounding this such as registering, signing in for the first time, forgetting user ID, nominating a pharmacy, trouble with signing in etc. Please go to https://support.patientaccess.com to find out more.

If you have any queries or concerns please do not hesitate to contact the practice.

Results

If you have been asked to telephone for results of tests etc., please do so after 11.00am.

Named Accountable GP

All patients are allocated a named GP who is responsible for your overall care at the practice.  The named GP is shown on the counterfoil for ordering repeat prescriptions. Alternatively a member of the practice team will be able to let you know who your GP is.  Should you have a preference for your named GP, please contact the Reception Manager who will endeavour to accommodate your request.  You are free to see any GP you choose and if you require a GP appointment urgently and your named GP is not available, please book in with another available GP.

Communicating with our Patients

We want to get better at communicating with our patients, in particular to make sure that you can read and understand the information we send to you.

If you find it hard to read our letters or if you need someone to support you at appointments please let us know.

Please tell the receptionist when you arrive for your appointment or call us on 01752 813277.
