Clinics and Services

Disease Management Clinics – Asthma, Blood Pressure, Coronary Heart Disease, Diabetes, Chronic Kidney Disease

We aim to provide high quality care for patients who, by the nature of their illness, require regular review with either the doctor or nurse to monitor progress.

We have currently started a new way for patients to remember to have their yearly reviews. The surgery will send all the patients with a chronic disease a letter to remind them to book their appointment with the nurse in their birthday month for their review.

Young People’s Services

The practice is happy to provide advice to young people offering contraception and sexual health advice.

You can be sure that anything you discuss with any member of this practice, family doctor, nurse or patient advisor will stay confidential.

Even if you are under 16 nothing will be said to anyone, including parents, other family members, care workers or tutors, without your permission.

The only reason we might have to consider passing on confidential information without your permission would be to protect you or someone else from serious harm. We would always try to discuss this with you first.

Free and confidential chlamydia test kits are available on line from freetest.me or by texting TEST followed by your AGE and POSTCODE to 60777.

Please see also our chlamydia poster.

Family Planning

Please consult your doctor or the practice nurse for advice. We provide a full range of contraceptive services and will be happy to discuss the method most suitable for you, including the fitting of implants.

Dr Keast is our specialist practitioner with a diploma from the Faculty of Sexual and Reproductive Health.

For any enquiries, please contact reception.

Stop Smoking Clinic

Please contact reception to make an appointment.

Telephone consultations are available.

Cervical Smears

The Health Authority recommends that these should be carried out at regular intervals for women between the ages of 25 and 64. The practice nurse will discuss our policy with you and carry out the smear.

Minor Surgery

Many of the doctors carry out minor surgical procedures e.g. the removal of cysts, ingrowing toenails etc.

Appointments will be made as required.

Minor Injuries

The practice offers this service during surgery hours on a walk-in basis. This service deals with minor injuries that require prompt attention.

Antenatal

The midwife holds an antenatal clinic at the local children’s centre and antenatal appointments can be made with the doctor if required. The practice does not undertake home confinements, although this service may be provided by the midwives.

Child Health Surveillance

We carry out babies’ 6-8 week checks at the same time as the mother’s postnatal.  You will receive a reminder asking you to make a 30 minute appointment with the doctor of your choice.

Immunisation (Children)

We believe it is important for children to receive all their immunisations. Any doubts or worries should be discussed with the nurse, health visitor or doctor. Please make your child’s immunisation appointment with the nurse.

Funding for 2-year-olds

Some 2-year-olds are eligible for free-funded education. To find out if you’re eligible, further information is available.

Immunisation (Adults)

The practice nurse will advise on routine adult immunisation including recommendations for ‘at-risk’ occupations.

Immunisation (Travel)

Travel immunisation schedules are complicated and the practice nurse will be happy to advise on this and health and safety issues. Unfortunately, we do have to charge for certain travel immunisations, which are not covered under the NHS.

Providing care for Armed Forces Veterans

We are now a veterans-accredited GP practice.

You can find further information regarding the armed forces covenant and NHS services available to veterans on our dedicated veterans page.
